Cefrone

       Broad spectrum antibiotic

Each vial contains:
Cefoperazone 0.5 gm or 1 gm or 2 gm (as cefoperazone sodium)

Pack containing, 0.5 g vial with 1 ampoule containing 5 ml sterile water for injection.
Pack containing 1 gm vial with 2 ampoules containing 5 ml sterile water for injection each. Pack containing, 2 gm vial with 2 ampoules containing 5 ml sterile water for injection each.

 
The usual adult dose is 1 to 2 gm every 12 hours I.M. or I.V.
In severe infections the total daily dose or frequency may be increased up to 12 gm per day, divided in 2 to 4 doses. No dosage adjustment is usually necessary in patients with renal impairment. However, for patients whose serum creatinine level is greater than 3.5 mg/dl, the maximum daily dosage should not exceed 4 grams.
The usual pediatric dose is 50 to 100 mg/kg of body weight every 12 hours.
Dilution: Each 1 gm must be diluted with 5 ml sterile water for injection. Shake vigorously to ensure solution. Using 5% dextrose in water, normal saline, or other compatible solutions, each 1 gm may be further diluted with 5 ml for direct I.V. administration, or with 20 to 40 ml for intermittent infusion, or diluted to 2 to 25 mg/ml and given as a continuous infusion. For I.M. Administration, each 0.5 gm vial is to be reconstituted with 1.9 ml sterile water for injection to give a withdrawal volume of 2 ml; each 1 gm vial to be reconstituted with 2.6 ml to give a withdrawal volume of ml and each 2 gm vial to be reconstituted with 5 ml to give a withdrawal volume of 6 ml.
Stability: Administer within 24 hours of preparation. The prepared solutions may be preserved 5 days with refrigeration (2° - 8° C).

Respiratory tract, intra-abdominal, gynecological, bone, skin and soft tissue infections; bacteremia; and septicemia caused by susceptible organisms.
